Wasteland 2, a project that from the very first appearance arranged a real hype among the game community. The legend of role -playing games was able to raise almost $ 3 million only on one Kickstarter. But we all have been waiting for a long time, not even this, but the real continuation of our beloved Fallout 2. Justifying hopes by the fact that the name Wasteland is taken to prevent possible litigation from Zenimax, copyright holder of the Fallout franchise, credit of trust was incredible proportions. However, already at the earlier access stage it became clear that the game was made more emphasis on tactics than on history and RPG elements.

The first thing we encounter, starting a new game, in addition to choosing complexity, which, unfortunately, does not affect AI, instead enemies simply grow armor, get an increased level and apply more damage, this is the creation of their four rangers. No one forbids to take pre-prepared characters and completely change them, but there is already a small problem here, your team has no individuality, it has companions that you can meet along the way, but your team will never have any disagreement, even if you collect the divorce of the Islamist, Christian, Buddhist and Judea in the same company. It would seem a trifle, but the recent Divinity Original Sin is recalled, where moments with the individuality and disagreements of the heroes were served very well.

System S.P.E.WITH.AND.A.L. was partially converted, and some skills are strangely named, possibly to attract a younger audience, but it may seem inappropriate for someone. And the role system itself is not in the best way, skills like hacking can only be pumped once and hack any object, and in the case of a breakdown, use quick conservation/loading. But the pumping skills are very much different, and sometimes there is simply an absurd weapon imbalance, when a simple wrench in one blow brings damage the same with a good sniper rifle that knocks out Crete. To switch to a new level, you constantly need to use a walkie -talkie, it looks strange, although this is just one of those things that will make you spend a little more time to pass the game.
You can’t call a great local plot, although sometimes quite entertaining quests come across, of course, there are tasks for the younger age group, in likeness to bring a person lying from him in ten meters. The gameplay itself is quite smooth, and in some places it is completely slow. The game world is large enough, although there are not many different places for visiting it, in general, almost all places are quite dull and not particularly interesting, and sometimes it seems that “somewhere I already saw it”.

On traveling on a global map to the places where it is early to go, we are limited to radioactive territories, and in order to tighten the process of movement itself, there is a thirst for a thirst, because of which we have to look for oases periodically to replenish the water supply. Apparently in the post -apocalyptic radioactive wasteland there are no problems with hunger, where our modern world, with people dying of hunger, to such a bright future. As well as problems with water, to tighten the process in front of the player is the JRPG scouring of the 90s, random meetings (Random Encounters), fortunately they do not appear very often, so irritations do not cause irritation.

With freedom of will also problems: you can’t do what you want, you are cool rangers and you must remain with them, except for the specified you cannot fulfill the quest. No, of course, no one almost limits the player, but in the local world I just do not want to look for adventure, he does not look and even more so does not feel alive.
You can talk about the technical side of the project for a long time and in detail, but, perhaps, we will reduce everything to the main information. The huge amounts of bugs and sorties were fixed, not a single departure was noticed for the entire time of the game. Everything has been done on Unity, so you should not expect beauty, for the most part the graphics looks rather scarce, monotonous colors, angular models, and indeed the predominance of some extinction colors can first cause pain in the eyes in the first half hour of the game, then the situation will be corrected, and in places beautiful landscapes will come across, but an unpleasant sediment will remain.

The models of the characters themselves look somehow clumsy, and the local dismemberment is completely funny. The battles pass quickly, the enemy AI, as mentioned above, is quite stupid, sometimes even makes enemies stand at full height to fade on your team, and the complexity is achieved by the usual imbalance. We have already seen the mechanics in many released games, the glasses of action that are not used are added to the next move, shelters that can be destroyed and similar things that we are already used to, there is nothing out of the ordinary here.

It’s not all smooth with the sound side, it seems www.privecasinouk.org/ to be normal, the sounds of weapons, embedients, dynamic melodies during the battle, but sometimes everything disappears for a while and has to roam in dreary silence, which is why the level of boredom can rise to the “Turn off the game”. There are quite a lot of text in the game, so it was not worth expecting a complete voice acting, they say not much voice here, but what they say is voiced frankly badly. It is worth a reservation of localization right there: the text is not all translated, but much more than in early access, everything will be translated completely over time, and the quality of the translation is also slightly recovered, although if you are very worried about Russian grammar, then severe eyes and brain pains are possible from this translation.

Wasteland 2 is not a great game, it did not become a revelation of RPG or tactics. Recently, quite a lot of good projects have been published in the RPG genre and in the tactics genre, this is already mentioned by Divinity, this is X-Com and Shadowrun, it is pleasant to watch the old, beloved projects, we may still see the real Fallout, Planescape and Vampire: The Masquarade. Is it worth buying Wasteland 2? Rather, no than yes. You should not wait for something new from her, but this is a worthy game, so that you spend your time on it.

I honestly did not meet such moments, took place with pumped hacks of locks – 2, hacking of safe – 1, computers – 1 and toasters – 2 (I drove a joke even on creating a character) and did not meet any problems with hacks, Quick Sey/Load (as you could do with dialogues in the third folich) always solved the problem.

Well, don’t tell me. I remember there was a film around the world in 80 days, that version with Jackie Chan. And there professors of the Academy of Sciences laughed on the main character, they say: now the golden age, everything could be invented, has already been invented! With a creative approach, you can always come up with a new. For example, the book and the film “Road”, a cool film through the snow, metro-2033, and t.D. and t.p., Underwear, original things with fresh ideas and a new approach are still in the genre of apocalypse. It also applies to games, which is worth only Last of US – here is the new one in the genre of post -apocalypse.

Therefore, Wasteland 2 is at least worth playing if a fan of post-apocalypse and RPG-alternatives are actually not from new games.

But in general, I say, it’s worth trying everyone, maybe someone will hook and there will be a desire to get acquainted with the older representatives of the genre, as it was with the new X-Com.

The review is informative, but! – Why is there a comparison with Fallout, I don’t understand? Where is the system S.P.E.WITH.AND.A.L? Wasteland 2 game is a continuation of Wastland, which, in fact, was before the Fallaut. The fact that the characters are divided into specialists, their selection, and that they have no individuality – all this was in Fall: Last Days of Gaia. Wasteland 2 is much closer to it, and you do not need to look for parallels with the second fall. I am familiar with the first part, as well as with Fall. Compared to the first game – yes, everything was simplified, and there is no wagering of the character like this. As an independent game, it is not a bad tactical RPG, which still needs to be worked on, to bring with patches to the norm of the problem with the balance sheet. And so it will do.
